...same here, new download and re-installing with the same errors. What's up, Vicott?

#6 vicott 2009-02-26 18:20
Sorry, all. There is a major issue with the update script as described in the front page of this site. I will try to put up a temporary file for rates dated today while I find time to re-write the update script in the following weeks.

Good and bad news. I've changed the currency update source to a RSS service. It's more stable, but has 52 less currencies. I will be using this RSS service until I find more time to work on the script and software. Read the front page (blog) for more info.

Thanx vicott !!!

Dear Vicott, I totally depend on CurrencyConv and use it on a daily basis, its now missing my home currency EGP which I can not function without! Can't u find an alternative source that would supply you with all 148 currencies like the previous web service? The program is useless to me in the current way.
Can u please look into the matter again...

Unfortunately, there aren't many free web services or feeds that provide updates for a big list of currencies. I'll be on the lookout. If anybody finds a good and free currency update service (e.g. WSDL, RSS/ATOM/XML, txt/ini), do post them here as well so that I can evaluate whether they can be good alternative sources.

Hi Vicott,

I've read your posts about the missing currencies and also understand you are tired to answer it again but please allow me to say that HKD is missing during these several days. Since your software is very useful to me. Would you please check and fix it. Thanks!

Looks like there were some changes in one of the RSS sources. Anyway, I've made the necessary changes and brought back the 5 missing currencies (HKD, PHP, MAD, RUB, TRY).

#20 cleunghk 2009-06-05 13:54
Yes, the missing problem of HKD is fixed and back to normal. Thanks again!

Dear Vicott, you for a well done program. I use CurrencyConv on a daily basis but, its now missing my home currency EGP. Do you think you could do something about it in the coming updates?

Thanks again

#22 vicott 2009-06-14 18:01
Unfortunately, the 2 RSS sources do not have EGP. If you can find any web service or RSS/ATOM feed that has EGP, do let me know.

RSS Feed Sources used at the moment:
themoneyconverter.com/USD/rss.xml
feeds.currencysource.com/USD.xml

Hi,
I have a trouble with CurrencyConv.
Since 2 days I can not update the currencies. This problem occurred after an attempt to update during which I lost the wifi signal. Since this time I can not make updated wifi or ActivSync, but it works against 3g. The error message is the following "Failed to download update"
I tried to reinstall the prog but it still does not work.
Have you a solution?

#24 Benni 2009-07-18 00:13
Just what I need, not more and not less
Thank you!

#25 Cobber 2009-09-06 23:11
Hi Vicott.
I use your prog for my phone. VERY GOOD / Usefull
Have you looked at www.xe.com? it might be a help as a source of exchange rates. I use it for a personal excel conversion program

#26 vicott 2009-09-14 02:13
Unfortunately, xe.com charges a hefty fee for using their data feed. it's not really worthwhile for me to spend such a hefty sum to use it in a freeware.

HI.

You application is so great, but some currency are missing, on my case BO... Bolivian Currency.

Please check it.

Thanks.

#28 vicott 2009-10-10 00:58
Unfortunately, the 2 free RSS feeds do not provide bolivian currency. If you know of any free currency update source in the form of RSS (of simple text file), do let me know.

Hi,
Excellent application, I have been using it for years now and never let me down, however a couple of constructive suggestions to make it even more perfect:
1. Redesign the UI to make it more finger friendly.
2. Allow to add and remove more currencies converted from the main screen (other than the static three listed in the original application).

Thank you so much, your application is well made and very useful.
